OCEANOGRAPHY + ADVENTURE
OCEANOGRAPHY + ADVENTURE COMBINES A GREAT WAY OF LEARNING ABOUT THE MEDITERRANEAN SEA, WITH THE UNFORGETTABLE EXPERIENCE OF THE ISLAND OF MALLORCA
With our friends at SOCIB we have designed a quite incredible and unique programme unlike any other offered within Europe. Students will have the opportunity to work with and learn from some of Europe's leading marine biologists here on the Island.
One of the aims of this programme is to improve public knowledge about the Mediterranean Sea through educational and hands-on activities and being involved in research projects with our team of scientists.

The Taplingo program
TAPLINGO offers students the experience of a lifetime. The team work to make your stay interesting, educational, adventurous and, above all, fun. Our family run company has worked in the language industry for over 15 years, and we hope our enthusiasm for language learning will be contagious. We design our young learners programs with the objective of showing students everything the Mediterranean lifestyle has to offer, from the language, to the culture, activities, cuisine, beaches, Mountains, and much, much more. We are very proud of our programs and feel that we are able to offer such unique experiences to young learners here on this stunning Island.
SOCIB is the Balearic Islands Coastal Observing and Forecasting System.
SOCIB is a joint initiative between the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness and the Balearic Islands Government, the purpose of which consists in establishing an integrated multidisciplinary research system for the observation and prediction of the variability of the coastal zone.
SOCIB is made up of a network of facilities and equipment devoted to marine observation, acquisition of data, processing, analysis, operational numeric modelling, and dissemination of multidisciplinary marine information in a systematic and consistent manner.
WHAT WE DO:
⦁Forecasting systems for currents with applications for oil spills or the rescue of shipwrecked persons.
⦁Wave prediction systems for maritime safety and beach safety.
⦁Systems for the prediction of meteotsunamis (rissagues) and fluctuations in ports and bays.
⦁Systems to study and ensure sustainable fishing.
⦁Systems for studying the Balearic Sea and the Western Mediterranean.
⦁Systems for monitoring beaches and the transport of sediment.
⦁Innovation and technology applied to sustainable tourism and integrated management of the coastal zone.
Our Language courses offer an active and dynamic way of learning. We have over 15 years experience within this industry and with a group of highly motivated dynamic teachers we ensure that students will learn in a natural engaging and fun way.

The Coastal zone program gives students a series of activities that allow them to discover the beach as a constantly evolving environment, not only as a place for summer holidays.
Our school is located in the centre of Palma, just a short walk from host family’s homes and a 10 minute drive from our residence. Oceanography activities and excursions take place all around our wonderful island., in the sea and on land.
This programme offers the option of residential, host family or hotel accommodation:
Residence: This student residence is located in the heart of the university campus, just across the road from one of the biggest sport complexes on the island. Charming mountain villages are just a short drive away, and so is Palma city centre. Shared bedrooms and en-suite bathrooms, as well as full board are available in the residence, and students will be supervised 24 hours a day. The residence also offers air conditioned classrooms, study areas, TV rooms and common rooms for students to relax during their free time.
Homestay: The families that we work with know how to take care of their guests. With our host families you will be able to learn more about the Spanish culture and to see what life is really like in a Spanish home. You’ll also be able to practice your Spanish day in and day out, starting the moment when you enter the door right up until it’s time for your departure. Keep in mind that many families live in flats or apartments rather than houses. Students will be able to receive phone calls at home and have access to wifi.
